Poker Face

The Game is on! Everyone has on their poker face. I have to crack a smile though. I would like to call everyone to go visit the Union Website once again. My predictions have come true concerning Medical Benefits if the Chart on Update #6 is true. A quote on the page reads; "Today, the Company gave us their Medical benefit rates applicable to both hourly and salary, which are as follows:". I wrote that would happen here. Look around this blog to see how far back I have been predicting that in our upcoming contract. Pass-Through is a fact, get used to it. The good news is that since they posted a few updates to their web site, it looks like they've gotten the word! All RMS workers deserve to hear about what's going on in the Negotiations. I'm glad they posted numbers and charts showing what looks like a good faith effort to inform us what's being debated in there. That's a major improvement.

However, I have a disagreement with something in update seven. The third paragraph says they want us to demand Management for a GWI for all. That's unacceptable, unless it is combined with a wage adjustment for the classifications that have been robbed over the past 16 years. No matter how big of a GWI you get, the fact that our classes are getting ripped off makes it priority one for you guys to fix. Everybody deserves a raise, and we understand the reality of home economics. But taking from one set of workers and giving it to the others has quite a few people at wits end. All workers deserve equal representation. So lets bring all wages back in proportion with what they were back in '93. We want RONA, optional 9-80s, Merit Pay, and of course, the correction of the wage imbalance. Stewards, you have a meeting to go to on Monday. The best thing you can do is to up-channel this info and ask the Neg-Cmte to resolve these issues. Smile! You've got a full-house.

Maybe they forgot to negotiate "Pass-through" provisions on this one.

Anonymous said...

"Did anyone question why the DBR and Asst DBR qualify for IAM Union membership Retirement?"

When in the employ of the International, they're obligated to create a retirement account for those on the active payroll. It'd be kinda a mess if they didn't offer the benefits they fight so hard to get (or destroy) if they didn't offer it themselves.

Note that DBR does not have a Raytheon badge but a contractor badge. Also, note the lack of security clearance currently held by the DBR.

"Why can't the dues paying members qualify for this retirement?"

See above.

"Teamsters offers unconditional retirement for members and officers alike."

Yeah? Go be a Teamster, then! As you can see, IAM is really not in it for the "rank-and-file" member. They've complained about that for years (IAM-run pension); don't expect that'll change.

So, my question to you is....why is it that a "picket-crossin' scab" has the all the right answers, and those in the know can't or won't say s#!t?

Oust933 2day!

It's too bad you're such a dullard to realize if you took that $63/month and with a 4% interest rate and compounded that for ten years, you actually have $9308.

"Add up that $63 for a few years, it starts turning into real money!"

Perhaps a 'few' was a time period of more than ten years.

Hmmm. 15 years, it's $15,555 and 20 it's $23,184.

For that kind of money, I don't have to by union-made POS Detroit iron, do I?

What a jacka$$! First you stated that with the money the union cost you you could buy a new car. (Oct 18, 2009 12:27:00 PM)
Then you said add up the $63.00 and in a "few" years it turn into "real" money!

Well I got news for you....
1. If you got to wait 15 - 20 years to get "real" money you ain't buyin a new car anytime soon.
2.The tax you will have to pay on 20 years of saving $63.00 a month negates the interest accrued on it, so what's the point!
3. the best rate I found is; Earn 1.70% APY, FDIC Insured.
www.Ally.com/Bank/SavingsRates
not 4% www.CapitalOne.com/DirectBanking Earn 1.60% APY on $10,000 balances. No fees. FDIC Insured.

Negotiating Committee Needs You to Act! - Update #8

Today (Day 11) we spent time with the Company going over various scenarios for each of the five Company proposed healthcare changes and how those proposed changes would have an effect on the membership. Some of these increases are at 50% in plan design changes for co-payments. Your elected negotiating committee then spent the rest of the day at the IBEW hall explaining those proposed changes to the Shop Stewards, Officers, and CEP representatives. The information we supplied to them is to be shared with our members so they can have a better understanding of the Company proposals and their position of cost shifting for insurance.

Tomorrow, please locate your Steward, and or Union Officials so that s/he can share the information that was provided today. If you see changes that you do not like voice your opposition to the management! Nine days left of bargaining with Raytheon so speak up; attend the rallies and functions to show solidarity! Your committee will continue to bargain with Raytheon for a benefit package that our membership can accept.

Brothers and Sisters stay Positive, Strong and United

In Solidarity,
Your Negotiating Committee

"Nine days left of bargaining with Raytheon so speak up;"

For those of you who think we stayed out for nothing last contract, check this out. Raytheon, on their own company private documents, issued their medical proposal. In it there are areas in which you, the hourly, will have to pay $2070.00 for some services you now get for $335.00 (6.2 times more), Welcome to pass thru language. This is what we fought against last time and what many of us are willing to fight against again. If you aren't willing to support us or can't stay out, then at least do yourselves the favor of voicing your opposition to every supervisor and manager you see. Copies of these documents will be passed out 10/21 but be aware the company did not want our negotiators to pass out this info. I have personally talked to an area supervisor (former hourly) not 30 minutes ago who told me they have already been given instructions to confiscate and destroy any copies they find, hasta maƱana.

Thats what you clowns fought for last 2 times. You should have taken the raise! One measely dollar an hour would cover that increase, and leave some in the bank after someone paid for the special medical procedure. And if they didn't get it, then it's all take-home. You want us to fight for that? And you don't even plan to share the company document with non members anyway! I'll be waiting for my steward to pass one along to me...LOL.

Not everyone is against you guys, and this does effect everyone including you. You don't have to support the union but if you don't want the extra increase in your cost of bene's (which will result in a lower wage) Then you should say something to the company. We already know you are unhappy with the union, that doesn't change what the company wants to force upon everyone. Think about it.

replying to the original post, poker face, I need my pay proportioned to the 1996 level
when testers were finally put on the second level of the assembly
(family if that's what you want to call it?). I could finally get the pay I should have been getting when cep started, if they (cep) would have listened. I read the story of some old timer that wanted to stay on the first level which is utterly ridiculous since he would have gotten a raise also.
now the company needs testers bad,
they should have done some investing in the future.

Anonymous said...

Mr. M. is going salaried for other reasons; he's being protected.

"I read the story of some old timer that wanted to stay on the first level which is utterly ridiculous since he would have gotten a raise also."

The old-timers (several of them) were pizzed that all of assy was on the lower tier, while all of the test & technical types were on the 2nd layer of the CEP org chart.

That's why the old Prototype and PTS slots were swapped around in the end. The UNION agreed to that small injustice right there.

Now, goodie for the Proto's; hell, there were some actual technicians in that classification back then, along with some real crafty old women that'd put most everyone to shame.

On another topic, has Pro-Union Jeff left us, now that he's been outed?

Do you really think you lot are going to scare me away? Come on people! Get a grip!!!!!

Just so you know, I DO have a life outside of this blog. I have been monitoring what has been said, just haven't had the time or inclination to post anything.

So as you now know, I really am who I said I was. As I have said all along, the only true way for you to achieve what you so desire is to stand together as Union members to show the company that you are serious in this fight. And if you think this isn't a fight, you are gravely mistaken.

With a divided workforce, members and non members, the company is the one holding all the "power" in this negotiations. Especially if they have been reading this blog. And you are the ones giving the company all the power by your not being dues paying members.

You know I am right. Sit down and seriously think about it. Slim, you can do your sitting and thinking at the KFC if you like. Standing together is the only way to get the things you want. Or at least the majority of them.

Remember:
"My friends, it is solidarity of labor we want. We do not want to find fault with each other, but to solidify our forces and say to each other: "We must be together; our masters are joined together and we must do the same thing."
Mother Jones.

Things really haven't changed that much. But even then, they knew that the only way to do this was together, through solidarity.

As always,

Jeff
