Get out of Jail Free

I learned today that there are notices going out to get as many people involved in the union as possible. Why? Because the Union can't tolerate having engineers doing touch labor! Yes, it’s happening now! These are interesting times to be in. Right now you can download your union resignation papers, sign them, and send them certified mail to both the Company and the Union to resign your membership. But the Union is animated in its call for Unity. Or is it? Now that the official decertification window has past with a humiliating dismissal of charges, there is silence. I have yet to hear anyone wants my talents involved with the union for their benefit. Jeff, One guy in our camp was told he isn't welcome to join the union, even if he tried. But the dilemma still exists. Engineers are still doing touch labor. And the Union is still desperate to get more membership. It’s an unthinkable situation with no easy solution.

What is the IAM going to do about it? Are they willing to pay testers a wage good enough to attract talent? Or will they force the company to promote more semi educated workers to get the same wages as the elite former ETTs. "What? The Union doesn't pay workers, the Company does." Yes, I know, but
the Union can give and take a little to get the wages of the PTS class raised to where it should be. "The Union isn't the only person in the negotiating room." True, but the battles that go on in that room are fought there and deals are cut before anyone outside gets word. What happens in there stays in there. It's time for a fighter to fix the past. It’s time for this Union to break from its old form.

It means compromise. And that compromise should come out of the raises of the overpaid. And while we're at it, we might as well include all the other fields that have less than doubled their wages since 93. Somebody with a calculator should be able to fix it so nobody is getting gouged. Bitterness permeates Raytheon because of the unjust wages. Is there a problem with paying low skill workers a high skill pay? You better believe it. Those low skilled workers are invited to get some schooling and promote themselves. Take charge of your life. Don't blame the Company for you sitting for twelve years in a job that never gave a raise. Get a raise by promotion!

I've heard it from two authoritive sides that both the Company and the Union Membership are unhappy with the arrangement having assemblers lumped together with the higher skill workers. And the old labor grade 11s put together with 16s in Test. There are quite a few examples of this in labor. So who has the courage to bring this up as a bargaining chip in negotiations? We posted the ugly truth. Who will carry this message into the negotiating room? Who on the Negotiating team has the courage?

Why isn't this on a poster to be picketed on Monday the 5th of October on Hermans Road? Who is fighting for the worker who studied hard to get the job he has, and now is surrounded by others less skilled and making the same money? Why wasn't this on the questionnaire last August? Why isn't the union making this an issue in public? Why has this argument repeated over the past decade over and over without ever being resolved? What does it take to get this Union to listen to the workforce? Does it take Engineers working touch labor? Wake up Mr. Watson. The workers are restless.

Perhaps, it's the company that needs to bring that point to the table, the union will fight for keeping that injustice alive, as they will for many injustices in the ranks of labor!!

"...not less than five (5) calendar days nor more than twenty (20) calendar days prior to the end of the contract."

This is the key, right here. IAM of course will cajole as many sheep as they can to join and make those numbers look bigger than they have been.

DO NOT JOIN! Make them prove their worth. HINT: They really need to back to their normal jobs and do real work for a "change you can believe in!"

Okay here is your call: I am a union member and I want you to join. In fact I want your core group to join and when the next officers elections come, gather as many supporters as you can have them join and vote you in!
Then you will be in the drivers seat. You want change here is you opportunity.

Okay me again ,,stop the b.s. you want to have the final say or not? To run for office you have to be a member for 1yr, to have a vote you only need to be a member for 30 days. So what's your excuse now. Put your money where your mouth is. I'm not afraid or weary of your group being in control. Hell if it was up to me I'd give it to you right now. I don't think you could do any better or any worse. The company doesn't give a damn about any of us hourly or salaried. They just want to pay less and make more$$$$$$$$$.

A member has the right to be there at any regular meeting they can't show you the door. However by your own statement here you makes me wonder, was it all just fluff? The past 3 yrs all b.s.? cause you're not willing to actually try to fix this? I know you just want to decertify, but what about the next group? If you don't like what they do? then what? When are you actually gonna take charge and make the change you cry for? If you think a blog or petition is change you're wrong, it is only a temporary mis-direction.
Hell I'd vote for you guys just so you could see first hand that you don't have a clue!

Something you don't know about this list.... It was never completed and the person who put it on the drive never gave it much heed, shortly after it was put there that person got over it and moved on.
You can say what you will but I have had many conversations with this individual over this, the person actually had forgotten they put it there.

This is a distraction, but that comment is Proven False. The facts are: The scab lists were updated on 20 May 2008. Cross.xls and 2007_deserter_List.xls were found with uniondues.doc that complained about union dues, last updated Dec 9 2008. Both are presently posted on iam933.net. The properties of the documents were preserved specifically for cutting through the BS.

Is 20 may 2008 shortly after the strike? Was it forgotten information when it was with union_dues.doc, last updated Dec 2008? An oustie discovered it months later. The facts dont support the claim that "the person had actually forgotten they put it there."

Yes we burned our bridges, it was a bridge worth burning. How can you cross a bridge with weak or no foundation. This bridge is only held up upon cooruption. Its leaders are only in for their own personal gain only with the union and not Raytheon. How can you support such an effort if it is not supportive for the whole hourly workforce. Wake up reality is knocking at your door! The current union leadership is more interested in "ME" operation instead of "WE". Use your "get out of jail card" NOW!

"Okay me again,,stop the b.s."

Prophetic comment starter right there!

Please, leave the "5% do 95% of the work!" message alone! It's true in every organization. Deal with it!

"So what's your excuse now."

It's a fact that there is still a faction of the group that will never deal with a scab, that will never deal with those who disagree. Soon, they will retire and die. Your change might have a chance to start there. The organization and the cause has long since outlived it's usefulness.

"Hell if it was up to me I'd give it to you right now."

So, you admit your group's leadership is a failure? C'mon, S. admit it!

"The company doesn't give a damn about any of us hourly or salaried. They just want to pay less and make more$"

Why don't I hear that type of talk from the salaried I work with? They've never 'given a damn' since 1990 when the owners changed.

Big deal; put in your time & get out of that place!

Anonymous said...

"So, you admit your group's leadership is a failure? C'mon, S. admit it!"

Fine you win they are a failure. I still want a union so where does that leave us? Bring in another and you stil have this:
"It's a fact that there is still a faction of the group that will never deal with a scab, that will never deal with those who disagree. Soon, they will retire and die. Your change might have a chance to start there."
So your argument doesn't hold water, if you can't take control of the union by becoming it's leadership, you will never have any control of the leadership. So on the other side of the coin you are just as useless as the current regime. Keep on making petitons that will fail or call in another union that you will have no control or say in,(different union same members the burned bridges will still be there), anyway you slice the fight is changeing leadership on a one on one basis and you will have to do something you fear or hate and that is join and change within. So far you have had one foot nailed to the floor, how's it feel to go no where?
Hope you find happiness somewhere in your life.

One big reason why some ousties wont join is the union constitution. Legal action can be taken against rebel members. Waking the union to injustice had a good result. Yea, I agree we got defeated, but it was worth it to challenge the status quo and shake things up. All of us know the union is broken. If this effort corrects the greedy targeted representation, then we will have done the union and the workers a great service.

Core union members and leadership will always dislike us, regardless that we fought for a just cause. What we did is against union rules. We stand proud of the fight. Nobody had the nerve to challenge the union before now. That alone was huge. Smart leaders will use their power wisely to satisfy our cause. Dumb ones will consider this an chance to squash us. Tend the workers needs, and the union will be OK. Ignor them, and we will fight back.

Jimbo is wrong when he wrote; They will stop at nothing to damage the negotiating process. We accept the NLRB ruling. Its over. We dont want to take control of the leadership, but to speak for the best interest of forgotten workers.

Don't have to worry there you already shot yourselves in the foot. You make statements about getting a different union and yet you won't join because of union rules and regs, it will be the same no matter what. You guys don't want any union period! Furthermore you will never get the support of the assemblers (who are the majority) to sign a petition when you told them you want them red circled and they don't deserve squat! No when you guys continue to fail it won't be because any of us tried to shipwreck you. You've done that to yourselves. Now go and have a nice day. = )

Not so fast there cowboy. The last guy there doesn't speak for all of us. He said they won't join 'this one'. I'm reading the union constitution to see if he has a point. Some of us WANT a union. This union needs change. Any questions?

There are many of us hourly workers who fear nothing, which is why myself and others are willing to forgo ANY protection by getting rid of this (or any other) union!

There's a dose of reality!

"Core union members and leadership will always dislike us, regardless that we fought for a just cause. What we did is against union rules."

Jimbo said, "We dont want to take control of the leadership, but to speak for the best interest of forgotten workers."

I doubt that he wrote those words - HE IS THE LEADERSHIP! When he's removed from office, then those words could be attributed to him.

See, it's perfectly acceptable to join this organization, volunteer, get elected, and then give in to whatever the company desires. After all they can always say "I volunteered", and are therefore automatically exempt from criticism or accountability regardless of what they do or deliver.

People can tolerate management 'cause at the end it is the hand that feeds them, however when they get screwed by an organization that they pay to be in, it becomes an entirely different situation.

My advocacy from the beginning is that organization - eliminate the middleman.

Attendance policy for 1800 hourly= strict.
Attendance policy for =10,000 salary= none.
Management doesn't screw hourly?!

Maybe the previous comment about squashing you guys is right, maybe you need to be destroyed. Then again maybe you should go see Smith's psyc, and get some meds. You obviously mentally ill,,,,all of you.

Why is the negotiation process cloaked in secrecy? Is there something to hide? You would think
everyone should be entitled to know just exactly what is being put on the table from both sides and the gains and losses, if any.

Anonymous said...

Dump933 2day you mentioned about
someone volunteering and gets elected to the negotiating committee and then gives into what the company wants, afterward claiming they volunteered for that post. Well I have to say those fools that voted that volunteer in, are to be accountable for putting such a irresponible person in that position. They might have voted for that person for being their friend or to put them in an important and prestigous level for favors down the road(are there any red faces out there),
but hundreds of people are affected by this imcompetence of the voter and the candidate for volunteering. I am reminded of the Tucson city council of this sort of an arrangement. Maybe professional negotiators need to be hired so there'll be no more slip ups.

Good question. Go ask HR for a transcript see what they will tell you. Members can view the transcripts. What does that tell you?

Not telling people who want our union to be decertified, is NOT an "unfair labor practice".
Key words being Labor Practice. Information or lack thereof has nothing to do with labor. I on the other hand always tell my non union coworkers what has been shared with us, only to get the "your leaders lie" b.s. thrown back at me. So where is the unfairness there, when information is being handed down and unwelcomed?
You guys want and want, and when what you asked for is given, you only piss and moan and try to make everything someone else's fault.
Mentally Ill,that's what that is.

Anonymous said...

"Not telling people who want our union to be decertified, is NOT an "unfair labor practice"." I thought they were an insignificant group? What about the hundreds of other non members that didnt sign the petition?
"Information or lack thereof has nothing to do with labor." Agreed. It has to do with the legal rep sharing info with all represented workers, not a select group. membership is no excuse. That attitude is part of the problem we had with IAM933.
"...only to get the "your leaders lie" b.s. thrown back at me." I feel for you. You have to deliver the message from a leader that the people dont trust. Dont blame the anti-union movement, that was going on way before "Oust933 started.
"So where is the unfairness..." Since the union is in a position of power over the workers legally, they must be benevolent. That wasn't the case on Jan 07 till now. Arrogance chased many of us off.
"You guys want and want, and when what you asked for is given, you only piss and moan and try to make everything someone else's fault."
You just predicted what will be heard Sunday Night, 1 Nov at TCC when the final contract comes for a vote. Focus all hate on those slimebals that tried to decertify us! They made the company give us a bad contract...all HATE the "insignificant" orange shirts!
"Mentally Ill,that's what that is."
Agreed.

Send in your resignation not more than 20 days and not less than 5 days before the end of the contract. Send it between 12 Oct to 27 Oct certified mail. Send two, one to the Company, one to the Union. Take advantage of the window offered because dues go up to three hours a month in January.

SPEEA charges less than $34.00 a month for all members. Isnt that BOEINGs union?

Anonymous said...

"Information or lack thereof has nothing to do with labor. "

I'll disagree.

Without information, informed choices can not be made, not by the leadership, not by the membership.

''Yeah, but you Ousties need to pay for that information, just like we do, by becoming members!''

Nope - 'bad' union members like yourself just blab it to everyone; eventually, we do get to hear, see and read the good stuff, just not in real-time.

The rally was yesterday and imho,
it was weak. Where was the membership?
It seemed like there was maybe 100
people out there! That goes to show
that there is little solidarity
and the company, the oust attempters and the salaried all see this. There needs to be a larger turnout next time to show some seriousness.

I don't understand what all the bickering is all about we work for a company with above average wages and benefits, a union that ensures that the company fulfills it's agreement.
Let's just get back to work and quit beating each other up. Please excuse me I need to go to a gumball rally with my fist full of coins. tata

Anonymous said...

Lets look at this from the company's point of view:

1. The company knows how many workers are Union and how many are not.
2. The company knows what classifications the Union members are in.
3. The company knows how many people will cross a picket line in the event of a strike.

Only looking at those three things here is what I see the company doing/trying in negotiations:

The company will offer those Union members in those certain classifications wage increases in order to "buy" the contract vote. If that should fail and the Union members vote to go on strike, the company knows how many people to expect to see at work whether or not there is a picket line.

So the bottom line is this: Either way the company makes out like a bandit!

The ONLY solution is for all the workers to join the Union and show the company just how serious you are about this negotiations. A united work force is a strong negotiating tool.

Dues are an investment in your present and future wages and benefits. You will pay them no matter what Union you are in.

Join the Union, get involved and see where that leads. You have NOTHING to lose!!!!!!

"Vote to sanction the strike this Sunday! They failed to train scab workers for when we go out."

Of course, you should vote for a trike sanction this Sunday! It's the union thing to do!

You should know something about those untrained scab workers, though. The list has been dusted off, and the salaried employee's are being trained and re-certified right now.

"They made big profits. Strike to get our fair share! Strike for Medical! Strike for our pensions! Strike for the take aways! Vote for a Strike!"

Got those "get out of the union!" letters ready to go?

No! Just because you've sat on your hands and did NOTHING over the last three years is the reason WHY this "debate" has raged on here!!

Read the details that have been posted here and elsewhere and decide for yourself.

Your problem is that you've been minimal control over your environment and you've been encouraged to be passive, dependent, and subordinate.

The immature behavior comes from that! So, you the worker, is expected to act in immature ways rather than as a mature adult.

It doesn't have to be this way.

RMS Negotiations Update
Written by Websteward
Thursday, 08 October 2009 22:15
Brothers and Sisters,

This is an update on how Negotiations have been going so far this week. Monday was introductions and ceremonial openings and the company provided an outline to your elected negotiating committee, identifying areas of the contract they planned to make proposals on, or areas they plan on having discussions.

On Tuesday your elected negotiating committee passed our non-economic proposals and explained our justifications and made it very clear to the company that the union proposals are sound, reasonable, and fair and we would be addressing all of the membership’s issues at the table.

On Wednesday the company started presenting their non economic proposals to the union. To date we continue to receive there proposals and we continue to have discussion. Brothers and Sisters, the company has made proposals that attack our language, job security, seniority, job rights, and benefits. It is our hope, that with your help, we can work with the company to resolve these issues that will protect our membership, so we can continue to provide the best defense products for our nation and war fighters. Understand that this is the first week of a four week process. Let’s tell management that you support your Union. Tell them that your Union will fully expect to work through these proposals.

Your committee will be presenting in more detail the company’s proposals and what parts of the collective bargaining agreement they are attacking during the October 11, 2009 strike sanction meeting. Your elected negotiating committee remains strong and confident that with your help, solidarity, and support we can get through this successfully. REMEMBER that this meeting is NOT to vote on a strike but a vote of confidence for your negotiating committee.

In Solidarity,
Your Negotiating Committee

Either it IS a strike sanction, or it's not!

Ramon has been confirmed as "Agent Smith" He is not so innocent as you think. He is typical of the type of people running this union into the ground! He will stop at nothing to embellish his career at this corrupt union.
